We are looking for a hands-on Tableau Subject Matter Expert who knows Tableau inside out and is also comfortable working in the Microsoft stack (Power BI and Microsoft Fabric).
You will be the go-to technical authority on dashboard design, calculations, performance, and Tableau Server/Cloud governance, while still building solutions yourself.
You will solve the hardest Tableau problems across enterprise engagements, guide developers on best practices, and support clients who run Tableau alongside, or are moving toward, Power BI and Fabric.
Key Responsibilities: Design & Development Build complex, enterprise-grade dashboards with strong visual design, storytelling, and UX.
Write advanced calculations: LOD expressions (FIXED, INCLUDE, EXCLUDE), table calculations, parameters, and set/parameter actions.
Design robust data sources using relationships, joins, blends, and published data sources.
Prepare and shape data using Tableau Prep and SQL.
Choose between live connections and extracts (Hyper) based on scale, latency, and cost.
Build and review Power BI reports and semantic models (DAX, Power Query, star-schema modelling) and advise on Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Direct Lake) design where clients use both platforms.
Performance & Optimization Diagnose and tune slow workbooks using Performance Recorder, Workbook Optimizer, and query analysis.
Optimize extracts, filters, calculations, and dashboard layouts for fast load times.
Tune data source design and push logic down to the database where appropriate.
Governance, Security & Administration Implement row-level security via user filters, entitlement tables, or virtual connections and data policies.
Manage Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud: sites, projects, permissions, groups, schedules, subscriptions, and alerts.
Drive governance through certified data sources, content lifecycle, and Tableau Catalog / Data Management where available.
Leadership & Enablement Act as the escalation point for complex Tableau issues across projects.
Conduct workbook reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.
Mentor developers and advise clients on Tableau adoption and roadmap, including Tableau Pulse and AI features.
Communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders, explaining trade-offs between Tableau, Power BI, and Fabric.
Required Skills: Strong, hands-on Tableau Desktop experience in enterprise BI/analytics, at SME level (5+ years).
Strong SQL and data modelling fundamentals.
Solid experience with Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud publishing, permissions, and administration.
Proven skills in performance tuning and extract optimization.
Experience implementing row-level security.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
A few years (2+) of hands-on Power BI experience (DAX, Power Query, report and semantic model development).
Working experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Direct Lake, OneLake).

Automation using APIs: Tableau REST API, Metadata API, TSM / tabcmd; Power BI / Fabric REST APIs.
Tableau certifications: Tableau Certified Data Analyst, Tableau Server Certified Associate, Tableau Certified Consultant / Architect.
Dashboard migration experience (e.g., Tableau to Power BI, or Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud), including inventory, mapping, and validation.
Finance domain experience Power BI / Fabric certifications: PL-300, DP-600.
Cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery.
Tableau Embedded Analytics and extensions.
Tableau Server installation, upgrades, and on-prem to Tableau Cloud migration.
