Lead Systems Programmer

Job Description: Job Title – Mainframe MQ & WebSphere Application Server (WAS) - Lead Systems Programmer The Purpose of This Role Provide technical and systems support to Mainframe MQ & WAS systems, with strong expertise in middleware administration, application hosting, integration, performance management, and production support.

The ideal candidate should possess deep hands-on experience in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) administration across complex enterprise environments, along with a solid understanding of IBM MQ on z/OS (Mainframe).

The role will primarily focus on WAS administration, engineering, migration, performance optimization, security implementation, and platform modernization initiatives, while also supporting IBM MQ infrastructure on Mainframe and distributed platforms.

The Value You Deliver The Mainframe MQ group provides a variety of services related to MQ & WAS on z/OS systems at Fidelity.

Those services might include but are not necessarily limited to: WebSphere Application Server (WAS) platform on z/OS Responsible in ensuring that the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS platform remains stable, secure, performant, and available for business-critical applications running on the Mainframe.

Key contributor in maintaining middleware reliability and enabling seamless application delivery across development, test, and production environments.

Platform Availability & Reliability Application Hosting & Deployment Excellence Performance Optimization Incident Resolution & Problem Management Security & Compliance Operational Excellence & Automation Mainframe Integration & Enterprise Support by working with MQ, CICS, DB2, z/OS System Programming, and Application teams.

Working knowledge of Compute Grid augmentation into Cell Compute Grid configuration and operational support Working knowledge of ZFS administration Proficiency in Scripting for deployments Working knowledge of ZRES build and configuration undefined IBM MQ for z/OS infrastructure Maintain stable operation of MQ Queue Managers and Queue Sharing Groups (QSGs).

Prevent message loss, duplication, and delivery disruptions.

Support business-critical transactions that depend on MQ messaging.

Administer Queue Sharing Groups and Shared Queues for continuous service availability.

Support disaster recovery, failover, and resilience testing activities.

Ensure MQ infrastructure can recover quickly from failures without business impact.

Diagnose and resolve MQ failures impacting business applications.

Investigate channel outages, queue build-ups, triggering issues, and connectivity failures.

Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents.

Collaborate with application, z/OS, network, and distributed MQ teams during critical incident Assist application teams in implementing reliable messaging solutions.

Contribute to modernization initiatives leveraging MQ as an enterprise integration backbone As a MQ Systems programmer, install, maintain, and provide 24X7 support for MQ z/OS and other related products The Skills that are Key to this role -Technical / Behavioral Core WAS for z/OS Administration Installation, configuration, and maintenance of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS.

Understanding of WAS z/OS architecture Application deployment and lifecycle management. z/OS Integration Knowledge Application Deployment & Support IBM MQ Queue Manager administration on z/OS.

Understanding of Queue Sharing Group architecture.

Shared Queue administration.Coupling Facility concepts.

Shared Queue recovery procedures.

Group Queue Manager administration.

Queue and channel administration using MQ panels and commands.

Work knowledge on MQ monitoring tool like CA sysview product.

Working knowledge of MQ clusters/channels and experience in a sysplex environment.
